SwitchBot has announced the launch of the Weather Station, a new smart home display that combines weather monitoring, environmental sensing, calendar integration and smart home controls within a single device. The product uses a 7.5-inch E-Ink display and is designed to provide household information at a glance while maintaining low power consumption.
The Weather Station brings together a range of functions that would traditionally require multiple apps or devices. Alongside local environmental data, the display can show weather forecasts, calendar appointments, reminders and selected smart home controls. The device is scheduled to be available through SwitchBot’s website and Amazon, with a UK retail price of £109.99.
E-Ink display designed for everyday visibility
At the centre of the Weather Station is a 7.5-inch E-Ink panel. Unlike conventional LCD or OLED displays, E-Ink technology provides a paper-like appearance that remains readable in a variety of lighting conditions while consuming relatively little power.
The display presents a broad range of information on a single screen. Users can view indoor and outdoor temperature readings, humidity levels, air quality information, weather forecasts, sunrise and sunset times, as well as the current date and time. The device can display today’s weather, yesterday’s conditions and a five-day forecast.
SwitchBot says the display has been designed for placement in common household locations such as living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, home offices and entrance halls. A built-in front light allows information to remain visible in darker environments, making it suitable for use during the evening or in rooms with limited lighting.
Environmental monitoring across multiple locations
The Weather Station includes built-in temperature and humidity sensing, but it can also be paired with up to three external SwitchBot environmental sensors. This allows users to monitor conditions in different areas of a property from a single display.
Potential monitoring locations include bedrooms, conservatories, garages, greenhouses, balconies and other spaces where temperature and humidity levels may vary significantly. The reviewer guide states that external sensors can communicate with the Weather Station at distances of up to approximately 120 metres in open areas.
Environmental data is also recorded within the SwitchBot app, enabling long-term tracking of conditions. When paired with a compatible SwitchBot hub, the system can provide notifications if temperature or humidity levels exceed user-defined thresholds.
Calendar integration for family organisation
One of the more distinctive features of the Weather Station is its integrated smart calendar functionality. The device supports one-way synchronisation with major calendar platforms using ICS links, including Google Calendar, Apple iCloud Calendar and Microsoft Outlook.
According to SwitchBot, the Weather Station can support up to five personal calendars and display up to 30 events per person each day. This allows multiple household members to keep track of schedules from a single screen.
The calendar functionality is intended to provide visibility of meetings, school events, appointments, reminders and household activities without requiring users to regularly check their smartphones. Sound reminders can also be configured for important events.
Multiple display themes and custom content
The Weather Station offers six display themes that allow users to prioritise different types of information depending on their needs.
Available themes include Environmental Data, Daily Overview, Calendar, Countdown, Daily Verse and Custom Text. Users can switch between these views through the SwitchBot app.
The Custom Text mode extends the functionality of the display beyond weather and calendar information. SwitchBot states that users can display text generated using OpenClaw, allowing the screen to show personalised information such as schedules, reminders or transport timetable information.
This flexibility allows the device to serve different roles throughout the home, whether as an environmental monitoring screen, family planning display or information board.
Smart home control functions
In addition to displaying information, the Weather Station includes two configurable scene buttons that can be used to trigger smart home actions.
When connected to a SwitchBot hub and configured through the SwitchBot app, the buttons can activate individual devices or launch broader smart home scenes. Examples provided by the company include turning lights on, closing curtains, starting a humidifier or switching between pre-configured home modes.
This functionality allows the Weather Station to act as a physical control point within the wider SwitchBot ecosystem rather than operating solely as an information display.
Battery life and daily reminders
Power is supplied by a built-in 5,000mAh rechargeable battery. SwitchBot claims the Weather Station can operate for up to one year on a single charge under typical usage conditions when the display refreshes automatically every three hours while connected to Wi-Fi.
For users who prefer a permanent installation, the device also supports USB-C power. This provides flexibility for both wall-mounted and desktop deployments.
The Weather Station includes support for up to three alarms, each with snooze functionality. Users can select from three volume levels, and the top button can be used to snooze or dismiss active alarms.
Matter compatibility and installation options
The device supports Matter through compatible SwitchBot Matter-enabled hubs, enabling integration with broader smart home ecosystems.
SwitchBot has designed the Weather Station to support both wall mounting and desktop placement. Combined with its low-power E-Ink display and integrated front light, the product is intended to remain visible and accessible throughout the day without requiring constant charging.
Availability and price
The SwitchBot Weather Station is scheduled to be available through SwitchBot’s official online store and Amazon. UK pricing has been set at £109.99. The company has also confirmed pricing of USD 109.99 in the United States and CAD 119.99 in Canada.
